A Reflection By The Lay President
It seems as if it was just yesterday that went to Janjangbureh for our previous conference.
Implementation of these have kept us busy throughout the past year. Meetings were held regularly for implementation and planning.
Work continues to be demanding and challenging. Our biggest challenge is financial. Meeting the needs of the Connexion is a colossal task. This has, to an extent, restricted the work of the Connexion. We cannot meet our deadlines or enhance our performance, if the required resources are not available. The increased demand for services in the fields of Agriculture, education and health has led to an expansion of work in these fields. It is therefore up to us to join hands and work together for us to register any success, as stewards of our Lord Jesus Christ, we need to be more committed and dedicated.
The effective functioning of the Connexion depends on each and every one of us. We should strive to fulfil our financial commitments to the Church by giving generously. Giving is a natural response of love. If we love God, we need to give towards His work . When we love someone, we want to give him/her our time and attention and provide for his/her needs. If we do not help, then our love is not genuine as we claim and if we love God, we should do the same.
The second coming of our Lord is a reality. Are we preparing for Him or are we ready? The day of our Lord’s return will come when it is not expected, for no one knows that day except our Father in Heaven.
Life will continue as usual, but as believers, we are expected to be ready and live each day as if it were the last.
True believers are the prepared ones. For us to remain prepared, means that we are faithful and wise and do what is expected of us. That is what makes us faithful stewards. It means that we should focus more and engage in fruitful ministry to honour our Lord.
As we prepare for Conference, it is my fervent prayer that our Lord God, through His Son, our Saviour, will be with us and lead us in the right path as we deliberate. May God bless us all.
