Gambia Methodist Academy

SCHOOL SONG

Hail worthy Gambia Methodist Academy
'Tis here we seek for truth and peace and wisdom infinite;
'Tis here we shall plod on,
Until the best is reached
And we shall shine forth as meteors
In our great and beautiful World.
Not by our might
But by the might of Almighty God,

We know we shall succeed,
We know we’ll reach our desired goal,
Nothing shall hinder us
As long as He leads on,
Let’s then lift up the name
Of our beloved alma mater!

Since its inception in September 1995, the Gambia Methodist Academy has steadily emerged as one of the best schools in The Gambia in terms of academic excellence and discipline.

The secret of this phenomenal success lies essentially in a dynamic Board of Governors and Staff that believe in high quality teaching, painstaking attention to detail and discipline.

The school’s aim is to mould the students to become responsible citizens, men and women of integrity who will contribute in fashioning the destiny of The Gambia in the near future.

Consequently, the school insists on discipline and hard work, maintaining a good appearance and relationships and love for the environment. In order to realize these ideals, the school provides an education which fully takes into account the students’ character development, interest, ability and aptitude, the vocational needs of the country and the economic resources of the state. This is to ensure that the student’s education can be of use to the country and at the same time, provide opportunities for him or her, to be successful in life.

This brochure offers an insight into the school. It gives the reader the opportunity to appreciate the system within which the institution operates.

The school is situated about 100 metres from the nation’s radio station, Radio Gambia at Mile 7 on the Banjul-Bakau Road. It was officially opened at its present site on the 25thJanuary 1997 by the then Secretary of State for Education, Mrs. Satang Jow.
